He runs confidently through this Zone, perhaps possessed by a cinema myth saying that at the heart of this land lies a Room that fulfills the visitor's wishes. Tarkovsky’s Stalker had to be green, first by accident, as Soviet film labs didn't know how to process high-end Kodak stock, then by choice, as green is the color of all things rotten and poisonous. This race isn’t about nature, it seems, but about danger. It’s about desire and fear: second nature.
